Alone on a Wide Wide Sea by Michael Morpurgo

In a 313- page literary phenomenon, this outstanding book by the award-winning author of                               ‘Private Peaceful’ takes you on a journey with the main character,an orphan, Arthur Hobhouse, as he is taken in a boat from England to Australia – a country he knows little about. It all seems great- but when he and his friends are housed in a small shed- like outdoor living space, worked to the bone on a huge farm, cooper’s station, all under the oppressive eye of Mr.Bacon, Arthur has second thoughts.

If I were to describe this book in one word it would be ‘amazing’.
